BRYANT “DREW” ANDREWS ANNOUNCES

CANDIDACY FOR ALDERMAN

Pledges to Bring Community, Business Experience, Sound Judgment and New Energy to the Position

Kingston, New York – Tuesday, May 16, 2017 – Bryant “Drew” Andrews, Executive Director of Center for Creative Education and Founder and CEO of Dance Xross Fitness®, declared his candidacy for Alderman of Ward 7 while presenting to the Democratic election committee Monday evening.

If what you want is someone with enough energy and tenacity to get the job done, someone to listen and understand that it’s about people, not politics, someone to be your voice and follow through, if what you want is ACTION, then I’m your man!

People’s first question is, “Drew, you’re already running a successful nonprofit organization and a national fitness program, how will you have time for this?” My mother used to say, “If you want something done, ask a busy person”. Because of my love for the community and the growth of Kingston, I feel it’s necessary to bring new energy to help cultivate change.

I plan to discuss the issues affecting everyday people, including economic development, programs for youth, infrastructure, transportation, supporting our seniors; we need to strengthen our community to bring more jobs to Kingston. I’m constantly in touch with both citizens and businesses, staying connected to the needs of the community.

The most important role for an Alderman is to inform and advocate for the people! If elected, I plan to be a vital and active communications link between the people of Ward 7 and the City of Kingston! (There should be no surprises)

I will share my perspectives and people skills; gained from over 20 years of being self- employed, educated in the human services field, working as a community advocate and establishing collaborations with businesses, schools, government agencies and community members; continuing to bring people together toward common goals that will unite and strengthen our city.

I believe that the foundation of any flourishing community should include education and arts, recreation, tourism and shopping. Kingston needs to attract strong companies and support small businesses to create better local jobs.

I look forward to a positive campaign, learning the complexities, capabilities and limitations of city government, engaging with citizens and working on solutions to issues that will make Kingston a better place to work, live and play!
